Atlanta Trevone Launch New Cottage in Padstow

Plum Cottage is a beautifully restored Grade II listed home and the newest opening from Atlanta Trevone’s owners Jess and Ash Alken-Theasby.

Sleeping four in two characterful bedrooms, the cottage has been thoughtfully designed by HÁM Interiors to celebrate its Cornish heritage whilst embracing its identity as a cosy retreat. Every detail has been carefully considered to preserve the cottage's history while introducing elements that make it warm, inviting, and uniquely personal. The interiors of the coastal cottage beautifully capture the essence of an English country home, weaving together warm colours, patterned wallpaper, and earthy natural materials. Open fires, antique-filled rooms, and walls lined with books create an inviting atmosphere, while unique pieces of art add character, all contributing to the cottage’s cosy and welcoming feel.

HÁM’s approach was to layer interior architecture with bespoke joinery, patterned wallpapers, textures, fabrics, art, and collected artefacts, crafting a narrative that feels organic and gathered over time rather than overly contrived. Tom Cox of HÁM says “We reimagined the kitchen and living room by opening up the spaces, creating a seamless connection that unifies the design across both rooms and establishes a cohesive atmosphere”. Specialist painted finishes were introduced to enhance the cottage's unique character. Feminine touches, including floral wallpapers and an earthy colour palette, bring a sense of balance and softness. Curated works of art by Studio HÁM add depth and personality to the space.

To shape the narrative for the design, HÁM drew inspiration from eccentric characters who might have once lived there. Antique furniture lends a sense of history to every room, while soft lighting, open fireplaces, panelled walls, and shelves brimming with books create an atmosphere that feels both inviting and enveloping. The cottage was envisioned as a comfortable retreat that leaves a lasting impression on guests - a space to unwind and enjoy year-round, even on rainy days.

Designed with relaxation in mind, it's the perfect place to curl up with a book or spend time cooking. Welcoming and effortlessly beautiful, it blends historical charm with thoughtfully considered design details. Walking distance from Padstow’s harbour, budding chefs can pick up fish straight from the boat or eat in one of Padstow’s many award-winning restaurants, including Rick Stein’s, Paul Ainsworth’s No. 6 and Prawn on the Lawn. North Cornwall is spoilt for beaches - surf lovers can head over to Polzeath, while Padstow’s own St George’s Cove, just a short walk from Plum Cottage, is a sandy beach perfect for families. Heading inland, the Camel Trail is great for walking, running and cycling, and Plum Cottage is only a 30 minute cycle from Camel Valley Vineyard for a day of tours and tastings.
